Civic Movement
In order
to create an informed and responsible citizenry, civics must become an integral part of the environmental education discourse. Through
active civic engagement, we can learn the value of participation in government and our potential to effect change. Democracies are built upon the assumption that a government must evolve as the needs of its citizens change, but we can only achieve a responsible government if the citizenry is actively demanding these needs. Thus,
action-oriented civic movements are essential to promote civic and environmental education in the greater community.
Mission:
Call to Action JO aims to takle
the lack of public awareness to
environmental issues we are facing:
educate,
mobilize and inspire personal/community action.
Collaborations:
The Campaign against Climate Change/Gobal Climate Campaign (UK):
The Global Day of Action on climate has occurred
every year since 2005 at the time of the annual United Nations Talks on climate change ( the COP or "Conference of Parties" to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change or
UNFCCC). Action has consisted of rallies/events all around the world on the same day - or as near as possible to that as circumstances allow. Usually that day has been the Saturday midway through the climate talks.
Call to Action Jordan is proud to further collaborate with the EarthDay Network (US):
Earth Day, April 22 , is widely celebrated around the world, as a collective expression of public will to create a sustainable society. Earth Day activities educate and mobilize people worldwide for environmental protection. It inspires action on personal, community, national and international levels. Events are often scheduled for the weekends before or after April 22. The Network includes over 15,000 partners in 174 countries.
